Today we celebrated Pi Day.

Following the American date format – month then day – 14th March is written as 3.14 – representing the amazing irrational number π (Pi). π is number that has an infinite number of digits…it goes on and on forever!

On Pi Day at Lammas we put on various activities for all students to get involved and celebrate π day. The atmosphere around the school was buzzing with all years getting stuck in. For the staff treasure hunt, students used their time outside of lessons to seek out the teachers with various digits of π pinned to them. A few standout students from the treasure hunt, finding all the digits around the school were Anna Le, Emilija, Nedj and Graziella from year 11 and Milena, Isra, Maja and Dimashu from year 7.

At lunch time students were invited to try to recite as many digits of π as possible. So many students came along to have a go at recalling as many digits in order as possible. The winners of this competition were the astounding Gvidas in year 11 who recited an unbelievable 101 digits and our key stage 3 winner, Denis from Year 7, with an impressive 70 digits.
