Elephant Group Access – Year 12 Launch

Our Year 12 students went to the Elephant Group Access launch to learn more about top universities and how they can attend.

Students engaged with a range of guest speakers, spoke to ambassadors & toured one of the best Universities in the world – University College London (UCL)!

The Elephant Group are a headteacher-led charity committed to improving fair access to top universities through the power of collaboration between school leaders, universities and wider invested partners.

In the UK, access to the most selective ‘top third’ universities, and onwards into top professions, is significantly determined by the school you attend with 57% of private school pupils accessing the ‘top third’ universities

The Elephant Group was formed in 2018 by a group of headteachers committed to increasing access to ‘top third’ universities for their ‘top third’ students. The first meeting was held in Elephant & Castle – hence the name – and since then the group has grown to include more state schools and many of the country’s leading universities.

Through a collaborative and cross-sector approach, they build knowledge and resources in schools and co-deliver a Year 12-13 Elephant Access programme, to support academically able students’ aspirations, attainment and applications into top universities.
