Year 7 Trip to Paris and Disneyland

By 30 May 2023June 27th, 2023No Comments

On the 23rd of May 2023 our Year 7 pupils, and 5 lucky Y12 pupils, travelled to Paris for a three-day tour. There they enjoyed the delights of Disneyland, before spending the third day exploring Paris.

This trip is the culmination of an extensive transition program, led by Assistant Headteacher Mr. Mycroft & Ms. Mordi, that aims to support students in moving from Primary to Secondary School. The programme also widens students’ horizons, building skills in communication, independence, resilience and leadership, as well as fostering lifelong friendships.

Read for yourself what Year 7 students felt were the highlights of the trip!

The coach journey was fun because we got to sit with our friends, we didn’t get much sleep because we were so excited. I have never been on a ferry, I loved that there was an arcade. Disneyland was magical. My favourite ride was the Tower of Terror because of the huge, terrifying drops! Everything was in French, which was different from London, but it was interesting being around a different language and experiencing a different culture.

It was a very interesting and fun coach journey. It took a long time, but I was with my friends, so I didn’t mind. The ferry journey went by very quickly and I managed to get some sleep on the coach. It was epic to be in a room with my friends in the hotel. My favourite ride at Dinseyland was the Avengers ride. I love Captain America. On the coach tour through Paris, I learnt about the Arch de Triumph and Napoleon. At the end we had pommes frites (in Mcdonalds).

I was surrounded by my friends for three days, which I loved. I liked going up to the deck on the ferry. I loved seeing the sunrise. It was stunning and so special to share it with my friends and teachers. When we got to Disneyland, we went straight to the Peter Pan ride, which was magical. We each had some spending money, which we had to manage ourselves and we had to stay in groups around the park, which taught us to be independent. The Disney Parade was amazing and I loved seeing my favourite character Tiana, from the Princess and the Frog. I loved wearing my new mini mouse ears and taking pictures with my friend. When we saw the Eiffel Tower, I realised how lucky I was to be in Paris. That was my highlight!
