During period two today, all students across The Lammas School participated in an interactive online workshop as part of the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering (QEPrize) Youth Festival.

The global award celebrates groundbreaking innovations that benefit humanity, and today’s session focused heavily on the transformative theme of machine learning. Through a series of engaging, hands-on activities, our students explored how artificial intelligence and advanced computing are rapidly changing the world around them.

A true highlight of the workshop was the opportunity to hear from two inspiring industry leaders: award-winning engineer Yewande Akinola and technology expert Ben Money-Coomes. The guest speakers shared their personal journeys into the profession, shedding light on the diverse and rewarding career paths available within modern engineering. Following the presentations, our students demonstrated excellent curiosity during a live question-and-answer session, asking insightful questions about sustainability, technology, and the future of innovation.

At The Lammas School, we are dedicated to delivering a forward-thinking curriculum that connects our students with cutting-edge industries. Events like the QEPrize Youth Festival empower our young people to see themselves as the problem-solvers of tomorrow. We are incredibly proud of the enthusiasm and high level of engagement shown by all our students today as they explored how engineering shapes our everyday lives.
