A new group of Year 8 students recently took part in the Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering’s speed mentoring event at the Science Museum’s Engineers Gallery, a dynamic experience designed to broaden horizons and spark ambition.
Held in the heart of one of the UK’s most prestigious museums, the event brought together young people and early-career engineers for meaningful conversations about the future of engineering. Our students engaged directly with QEPrize Ambassadors, all women shaping change across a range of engineering disciplines, and discovered the real-world impact of their work.
From tackling climate challenges to advancing medical technology, the mentors shared insights into both the rewards and realities of their professional journeys. The exchange left our students energised and curious, with many seeing STEM pathways as more relevant, and more achievable, than ever before.
This is the second year Lammas students have been invited to the event, reflecting our commitment to expanding opportunity and raising aspirations. As we continue to nurture curiosity and confidence, experiences like this one lay the groundwork for a future where our young people lead with purpose.
