Our Year 10 Art GCSE students have recently enjoyed two inspiring outings to Jubilee Park, sparking creativity for their ongoing coursework centred on the theme of “Environment.” These excursions provided invaluable hands-on experience, allowing students to directly engage with their subject matter.
Inspired by the environmental artist Edith Meusnier, known for her intricate sculptural installations that seamlessly blend with nature, the students embarked on their own creative endeavours. They meticulously crafted sculptural responses, drawing directly from Meusnier’s innovative approach.
Examples of Edith Meusnier’s Work
The park’s natural setting served as both a studio and a muse, enabling students to explore the interplay between art and environment. Building on their sculptural work, the students then incorporated a photography element into their coursework, capturing their creations within the park’s scenic backdrop. The resulting photographs showcase the students’ talent and the inspiring impact of their time spent in Jubilee Park.
These outings have not only enriched the students’ artistic skills but have also fostered a deeper understanding of environmental art, providing a practical and engaging dimension to their GCSE studies.
