Lammas Gardeners Celebrate First Harvest!

By 1 October 2024No Comments

As part of our Champions programme, the Lammas Gardeners have been hard at work, and their dedication has paid off! This week, our gardening team braved the elements to gather their first harvest of the year, marking a major milestone in the development of the Lammas vegetable garden.

Despite the chilly winds and intermittent rain, the gardeners’ efforts were rewarded with a healthy collection of fresh, organic produce. Their haul included a bountiful crop of vibrant rhubarb and ripe, juicy tomatoes—perfect examples of what hard work and teamwork can achieve.

In addition to harvesting, the team also gave the vegetable beds a much-needed tidy-up, de-weeding and preparing the space for future crops. With a refreshed garden, the next plants on their list are chantenay carrots and leeks, which they are excited to grow in the coming weeks.

The Lammas Gardeners have shown great resilience and determination, and their work is not only helping the garden flourish but also inspiring the school community to get involved with sustainable, hands-on learning. We can’t wait to see what the next season brings for this passionate group of students!

Stay tuned for more updates on their gardening journey.
