At The Lammas School we are continuing to develop a culture of avid readers, as we know reading for pleasure benefits a childās education, social and cognitive development, wellbeing, communication skills and mental health, helping children become more successful within and beyond the classroom.
WeĀ use the Accelerated Reader (AR) programme to motivate and monitor studentsā independent reading. Ā Accelerated Reader helps create a culture of reading through choice, with over 220,000 titles there is something for everyone.
As first announced in our Rewarding Reading article, the Griffin Schools Trust has been analysing the data from Accelerated Reader across our family of schools and they have decided to again award the top four readers with Kindles. We are proud to announce that once again a Lammas student has finished in one of the top places.
